Life Preserver

18 Oct

Hello world! Happy Thursday to you! I pray that you’ve had a great week so far! It’s been crazy and busy and I’ve been tired! I’ve also been growing my nails out-since I had a really bad break about 2 weeks ago. They grew out pretty long and then I was able to file them all down. yay! So, I’m back…until the next crazy thing comes along. 🙂

Today’s post is my first time using this polish. I have quite a few that I’ve not yet tried, and some I’ve tried and just never photographed to post about. This is China Glaze’s “Life Preserver”. In the bottle, it looks like a terra cotta orange-cream. A bit on the coral side, but the orange coral. I hope that makes sense but, it’s a very nice color. My pictures came out a bit darker than actual color. I did 2 coats of this and then added one tiny “glequin” to the top-centers of each nail. I needed simplicity at this hour and I like the outcome. I then topped with a coat of SV. All the photos here are without flash.

Thank you for stopping by for another fix of Lacquer Addictions! 🙂 God Bless! -Sara

Timbleberry

2 Mar

This post is for last night’s mani. I used Sinful Colors’ “Timbleberry”. It’s a coral pink color. I did 2 coats and topped it off with one coat of SV. I also stamped it but not too big on the image I chose so I won’t be posting those pictures. ^_^ But here is the lovely Timbleberry.

One thing I do want to talk about in this post is why my nails are short.

I broke a nail sometime last week (week before). It was right after I had posted the Vintage Violet Flakes post. I have an emergency kit at work. So I was clipping (can’t have one short) and noticed I cannot go any shorter than the length in this post because it hurt. I was so shocked.

So I looked this up and learned that people with generally longer nail beds have a longer hyponychium. This is a layer of skin that keeps bacteria out from under your nail bed. This is the area directly above the free edge. Don’t try to cut into or push back as your fingers have very many sensitive nerves. And… you’ll bleed. So I’m working on keeping them short to see if this will help them “naturally” fall back some. We’ll see. But I sure do miss having them long. 😦

Soo, that was just some info on nail care. Thanks for stopping by. God Bless! 🙂

Franken First

27 Jan

Happy Friday to you! 🙂 I am happy to announce and post about my first “franken”. I’ve been reading a lot about franken posts and I had never heard of it. So, I looked it up. I’ve been wanting to try one but I didn’t have any empty bottles. lol. So, I grabbed a bottle that had a really pretty orange. I haven’t used it in a whiel and it was getting “old” and it was kind of at that goopy, throw it away, stage. So, I decided I’d play with that one. If I didn’t like it, it was past due anyway. lol. 🙂 So, that polish is called Tequila Sunrsie by Lycra/Rimmel. I then took an NYC polish called Love Me Red Creme – it’s a pretty pink with some shimmer. So, I just added some until I liked it. I tested on a “swatch nail”, just a single fake nail and I loved the color.

Also, I recently purchased a new set of image plates. I love them. The images are very different. I got them from Amazon and the set is by Red Angel. So, there’ll be a few pictures today. 🙂 I hope you like them! Have a great day! God Bless!
