Happy Tuesday Lacquer lovers! 😉 It’s a day for red polish and some sparkle! I decided to try another blogger’s method of taping and see how that goes. We all know I am not a taper but instead of using regular Scotch tape, I opted for my fine nail tape which is harder to work with but in the end is more suitable for my curved nail beds. To see the method, you can click HERE. 🙂
I started with 2 coats of Orly’s “Haute Red”. This color is gorgeous and a perfect Christmas red. It’s also perfectly opaque, but I did 2 coats out of habit and security. lol. I then topped with a coat of SV. I then took some fine nail tape- I have a whole pack of wheels of tape- and taped a “tree” on my ring fingers. Using China Glaze’s “Electrify” (Hunger Games collection) and gently went over the area. I was very careful since this glitter is a bit chunky for such a small detailed image. I then pulled up tape and loved the outcome! Thanks to Nail Side for her great tips! I added small “stars” with gold rhinestones at the tops and added one more coat of Seche Vite. I hope you like it! Happy painting! -Sara
Happy Saturday to you all! I know you’ve all seen the very pretty Christmas manicures out there. I know I’ve been very inspired and challenged to do my own 12 Days of Christmas themed manicures. So, here we go! This is Day 1: Deck the Halls.
I started with 2 coats of Ulta’s “Snow White” and topped it with one coat of Seche Vite to let dry. I then used plate BM-219- which is an all tips stamp plate- with China Glaze’s “Argo” (Hunger Games collection) and stamped one direction on my left hand and had to flip it- since BM doesn’t offer mirrored stamp images- on my right hand. I really liked the combo together. I then used Orly’s “Star Spangled” for accenting the bits of holly berries and added one small red rhinestone to each nail for one blingy holly berry. 🙂 I am pleased with this manicure and I hope it lasts! Happy painting! I love seeing the Christmas manis!
First, I hope you had a wonderfully blessed Thanksgiving holiday! I know here, our bellies were stuffed and our hearts are full. I’m very thankful for Salvation, for my wonderful husband, our family and many, many more that would take up the whole of this post. But, amongst the great things, I am thankful for the little things like morning kisses and reading as a family, for the cooking together and the laughter that always floats in the air. And! …I am also thankful for polish! 😉
Today’s mani is a first try for me. I’ve been wanting to do a metallic gradient forever! For the colors, I chose China Glaze’s “Harvest Moon” (Hunger Games collection) and Orly’s “Rage”. Both very glitzy-glam colors and both very sparkly. I first sponged Harvest Moon at the top halves of all my nails, followed with Rage at the tips and blended the two in the middle. It was a bit hard to tell if I’d blended them all since there was so much sparkle. 🙂 But I do like the outcome! After clean up, I topped with one coat of SV. I hope you like it! It’d be great for a Christmas mani! Have a blessed week! Thanks for stopping by for this very overdue edition of Lacquer Addictions! -Sara
It’s been a crazy day for my nails. Last night, I did my first attempt at a marble mani. I will say it is not what I’d hoped for but I’m glad I finally tried it out and “tested the water”. 🙂 Here’s how it went:
I started with 2 coats of Orly’s “Powder Puff”, which is a lovely, slightly off-white color. I wanted my colors to pop nicely so that’s the reason for my base color. I topped this off with SV.
I then took four colors: a hot pink (not labeled with brand/name), Sinful Color’s “Snow Me White” and “Black on Black” and Wet’N’Wild’s “Metallica” (silver). I did not have a small bowl or cup low enough for dipping so I simply cut a plastic cup down to what I thought was a good size. I taped off my thumb and began my drops. I did the pink first and the unnamed bottle spread so good! I was excited and at this point, very optimistic. 🙂 I then did silver, white, pink, black and went with rotating them. the black and white did not spread so good. But, here’s how my thumb- the first dunked- came out.
I cannot tell you how ecstatic and excited and proud I was! I was like, “Yes! It’s going to be fast and easy and look great!” Boy, did I speak too soon! Lol! Here’s how the whole mani came out. I was VERY disappointed and aggravated with the outcome.
After my first dunk, my designs kept getting pulled up with my toothpick or I didn’t know how to recreate the first pretty, even marble design. And it was a MESS!
But, as I said, I’m glad I finally tried- even though it was a PAIN IN THE NECK! I ended up trying to spruce it up and hated it more. lol. But, better luck next time? If there is a next time!
Thanks for stopping by for this marble madness mani! 🙂 I hope your marble patterns come out a lot better! Happy painting! -Sara
It’s a Pink Wednesday, Lacquer Lovers! 🙂 This will be a quick post but I hope you like the color. I love it!
I used Orly’s “Butterflies” which is a nice, thin/sheer pink. I had to use 3 coats and one coat of SV for me to like it. But, it’s very pretty. Here is Butterflies with no flash. Thanks for stopping by! Happy painting and Happy Wednesday! God Bless!
